How does re-engineering occur?

There are three core elements to re-engineering:

(1) Organizational Restructuring

(2) Work Redesigning

(3) Technological Re-tooling

Organizational Restructuring
examines the configuration of organizational layers. This process aligns work groups and their functions into the new organizational structure by emphasizing customer relations and front line accountability.

Work Redesigning
analyses team and individual work processes. Its function is to tap into workers´ potential by expanding job scope and responsibility and increasing individual flexibility while focusing on customer processes.

Technological Retooling
incorporates information gathering and data integration in order to facilitate communication processes occurring within and between organizations and customers. This area analyzes and processes customer-related data and feedback information.
